When I get into flow, there's no stopping my little squirrel brain. So when I got started on my previous collection, my mind swirled with concepts to explore next. The Candlelit Collection was a study of a light and shadow; I used an extremely limited, neutral palette...which meant I knew the next series had to explore COLOR.

Inspired by cold-weather fruits and the jewel-tones of the holiday season, the Winter Harvest collection explores color over form. Bold contrasting colors seek to create a striking, saturated composition and sense of drama.
Winter Harvest Collection: Original Paintings, November 2023
These pieces were each painted alla prima or wet-on-wet , meaning they were painted in one sitting. This practice encourages expressive brushstrokes and is an important lesson in following your intuition. With a limited window to complete the painting, I had to have confidence in my skill and push aside my temptation to overthink. The result is a whimsical winter collection that I adore!
These original pieces were painted with water mixable oils on clear-primed birchwood panels, which allowed the natural wood grain to peek through.
Prints of this collection can be found here. Each piece is paired with a quote or poem.
