World Watercolor Month - Day 26 - Orange Peel Pattern

Welcome to Day 26 of World Watercolor Month! I hope yesterday's mandala-inspired patterns helped you get into flow and improve your detail work. Today, we are doing a slightly simpler repetitive pattern - what is referred to as an "orange peel" pattern for quilters. Offset overlapping circles. Depending on how you choose to paint these, you can create diamond patterns and floral illusions.

Check out examples & video references below, as well as today's journal questions and mantras!

Use a bottle cap, baby food jar, or any small circular item to trace a set of circles across the page. Then draw a second layer of circles offset from the first, creating the diamond pattern and other illusions. You could even create a mandala pattern, if preferred (check out this how-to). From there, paint in the shapes as you wish!
