World Watercolor Month - Day 24 - Unusual Tools

Welcome to Day 24 of World Watercolor Month, artists! Today, we are setting the brushes down and picking up...anything else. You could paint with your fingers, a leaf, a stone, the side of an old gift card, a sponge, a plastic bag, a stick, etc. I invite you to get weird with it! All of these funky exercises increase our internal threshold for discomfort, which motivates us to explore new things and, in turn, make better art.

Check out examples & video references below, as well as today's journal questions and mantras!

For this practice, you don't really need to pick a reference, but you are more than welcome to do so. This is truly a free for all. If you are struggling to think of what to paint, I would try a simple flower or a loose landscape, depending on the tool with which you choose to paint.

This very well may turn out to be the ugliest doodle of the month thus far. AND THAT IS OKAY. BE WEIRD. GET CURIOUS. Let yourself learn by trying something new and a little uncomfortable.
